John Prentice became Dundee FC manager in September 1968, a stint that lasted up to the end of 1971. During his time as boss Dundee finished 9th in the League in 1969 - 6th in 1970 and 5th in 1971. Despite the Dee's progress while he was manager, which also included a UEFA Cup run against the likes of Cologne and AC Milan, Prentice became disillusioned with football and retired after a total of 144 games in charge.One match I remember being at while he was boss was a local derby at Dens. The score - Dundee 6 v 4 Dundee Utd. That was some game, and it was also on Sportscene that Saturday night too! Wouldn't mind watching that encounter again.
