Here's a reminder of how the popular Wee Red Book looked in the 1973-74 season, the year we lifted the League Cup.Under it, Tommy Gemmell parades the trophy at Hampden with Thomson Allan alongside.
A dip into my Dundee FC treasures. Some sensational...some silly. All dark blue devotee's welcome.

How did you get through to the match GG,having left Craigie High in summer '73 to start at the brand new St Saviours,I remember the Modern Studies teacher, who was from Glasgow(cant remember his name right now,Mr Mc something I think)organising a coach which was mostly full of Celtic supporters(fae Dundee!!).With most buses and cars turning back along the route with reports that the match must be cancelled due to the terrible fog and the early kick off due to no floodlights allowed cos of the power cuts(3 day week etc),there werent many of us there(smallest crowd ever for a cup final at Hampden I think).I remember me and Andy Gibson having to suppress our desires to go mental when GW scored as somehow in the fog we found ourselves surrounded by Celtic supporters.in case we got our heads kicked in!!! So who were you with?xpress
my memories of the game ...arriving at hampden and getting tickets for the main stand thrust into our hands by tic fans and sitting right among them but being encouraged to support our team by these great old guys. Only time they lost the plot was when the celtic end was giving Tam Gemmell abuse and every celtic fan around us went tonto. Shook our hands at the end and said the dee deserved the cup.
Just spotted the Telegramtam comment - I'm quite hazy on the journey to & from Hampden, all I do know is I definitely went through by bus, and I'm fairly certain it left from Seagate station, not sure if it was a yellow Alexanders though! Did they do football specials?
My mates wimped out of it I recall, so ended up going there on my own, with my special homemade scarf for the occasion!
I have the image of Billy Cook being on the bus but can't be 100% certain if it was this match.
I too was in among the small Dee crowd surrounded by Celtic fans. When Dundee scored I remember seeing a Celtic supporter looking over our way and doing a "gonna slit your throat" gesture with his hand!
It was straight back on the bus pronto after the Cup had been paraded!!
Had a look at my programme I bought at the final. I have Stevie Murray signature who was playing in the hoops.
