Here's a photo of Bobby Ancell when he was DFC manager, the image taken around 1967.
Bobby was boss from 1965 to 68 during which saw the Dee play in a Scottish League Cup final and reach the semi's of the Fairs Cup.
A couple of decades earlier, Bobby played left-back for Dundee, and as a defender (1944 to 50) he notched up a total of 134 games.
He was involved in one of the clubs quirkier moments in history, Bobby being in the team which in 1947, won 2 League games 10-0... 2 weeks on the trot!
While in his playing days at Dens he also achieved 2 Scotland caps.
Bobby Ancell died in 1987.

I remember Bobby well,he was an absolute gentleman. He was also a scratch golfer. He would have earned many more caps, but the second war "stole" his best years.
Thats my Grandad. I Just wish I had the chance to speak him properly as I was very young when he passed on but it fills me with happiness when i read about his career acheivements.
Mike Ancell
I'm his sister Dorothy's daughter, Lynette, I live in Argentina and I wish I could have met him as well as the rest of the family. To date I have only been able to meet my cousins in Glasgow and in Telford. I hope to be able to meet someday the rest of my Mum's family whom I have always kept deep down in my heart and in my memory.
Would love to make contact with descendants of Captain Richard Ancell and his son Bobby Ancell.
