ALEC CALDWELL IN ACTION - 1977

Alec Caldwell taking control of the situation in a Scottish Cup tie at Dens against Aberdeen on 26th Feb 1977, with 17,000 in attendance. The score here was 0-0 but we managed to win 2-1 in the return leg at Pittodrie.
Caldwell was at Dens from 1973 to 1980 and played a total of 137 full games.
He was the only Dee player I can remember, who around 1973/74, had a Bowie haircut..!!
I think that is Davidson beside him, a Don who later became a Dee.

Great pic - but I think that might be Duncan Davidson and not Gerry.

Met his daughter in unusual circumstances - she was a ski rep in Alpe D'Huez and mentioned that she lived in Edinburgh and her dad was an ex-pro. Eh assumed Hearts or Hibs and she says nah, Dundee and Sainties. Near fell aff her seat when eh said eh'm a Dee and remember him well. Brought a tear to the wee lass's eye! p.s. she got her mother's looks and hair, thank Goad!
